More Shots

I got more shots today.  I got Yellow Fever, HepA, and a Polio Booster.   Scary to think this stuff floats around the world.  I feel very isolated knowing that I've never had some of this stuff and yet it is a daily issue overseas.

I received some excellent advice from Dr. Jones in Indianapolis as a part of this as well.  He is very thorough when meeting with patients about travel.  He talks about foodborne illnesses, how to prevent, how to deal with if you get them, etc.  He also discusses all sorts of other potential problems that can arise when traveling overseas.

He gave me a green folder with pages and pages of information about traveling to Kenya and gave me the yellow shot record to put in my passport, etc.  Wow, I feel a ton better!

Well, that's the post for now.  I am still in the process of getting my checklist of stuff together.

I also learned something interesting from Dr. Jones. DEET will destroy glasses, camera lenses, etc.  Good to know!

Getting Close

So, my upcoming trip to Kenya nears!  I have gotten my shots, bought some appropriate clothes, gotten bug spray (for clothes and skin!) and have been trying to get a bunch of stuff done around the house to prepare for being gone for 10 days.

Anyone out there that might read this (doubtful at this point...)I am always game for advice on travelling to Africa, specifically Kenya.  What to watch out for, what to make sure to do, see, etc.  Of course, I am going with a group and we have an itinerary, but you never know.

Looking for advice and information!

Hello All,

This is my first mission trip and my first trip to Kenya.  I am very excited and look forward to the spiritual growth on this journey.

If anyone actually reads this and then has some advice or has been to Kenya and can pass on any lessons learned, I'd love to hear them.
